The 2008 Tour de France was the highlight of Marcus Burghardt's career. After playing the dutiful domestique for the majority of the Tour he was able to go for his own stage win. After a long breakaway he won Stage 18 of the Tour de France.

A strong classics rider and all round tour rider, Marcus' first focus for '09 will be the spring classics that he missed in 2008 due to injury including Gent Wevelgem, a race he won in 2007.
