Maxime enjoyed a successful season in 2009 including winning the Belgian National Time Trial Championship, and placing 2nd overall at Bayern Rundfahrt and 4th in the Criterium International.

Spending time with family and friends

What do you like about riding for Team Columbia-HTC? I'm looking forward to riding on with the best team organisation in the world.

What is your greatest childhood memory on 2 wheels?
I was 10 and I was on holiday with a friend and his parents for the start of the Tour in 1993 in Puy du Fou. Every morning, before watching the race on TV, we made little bike competitions between us.

How did you get into cycling?
The passion for cycling came from my friends and his parents during that holiday in 1993.

What has been your biggest challenge as a pro cyclist?
To be at the start of my first Grand Tour (the Giro in 2006) which started in my region because I broke my collarbone 4 weeks before the start of the race.

My first pro win in the 3rd stage of the Tour of Luxembourg 2004

What is your most embarrassing moment?
The second part of the season 2006. I was completely burned after the Giro (my first Grand Tour)

What is the last song you listened to before you turned off your Ipod/Zune? Viva La Vida from Coldplay

What is the best book you have ever read?
Da Vinci Code from Dan Brown

What is your favorite comfort food?
Really light food, like a little bit pasta to begin and than a mixed salad.

What can someone do that really bothers you?
People who are hypocritical and dishonest. I hate that.
