INA-YOKO TEUTENBERG (35)

Mettmann, Germany

Ina-Yoko is a rider with a huge amount of experience and a fiery personality. She started racing when she was 6 years old because she didn't want to miss out on anything her older brothers did and from a young age she was beating the older and bigger boys. Her strength is in the sprints, but her preference is to make the race as hard as possible and win out of a break.

In the last few years she has won multiple World Cup races and over the years she has won 11 stages of Tour de l'Aude, 6 stages of the women's Tour de France and stage wins in all other major tours around the world. In 2008 and 2009 she was the winningest rider in the team with 24 wins each year. She is current German Road Champion.

When not winning races she is a dedicated team worker and is often seen dragging the bunch for miles.

I love the traveling part of cycling. I have been all over the world, have friends all over and I would have never been able to see what is out there if I would have not been a cyclist. The lifestyle is hard once in a while but there are always destinations and people out there that make it worth it.

  • What are you doing when you're not cycling?

Walking my dog and going to the coffee shop.

  • What do you like about riding for Team Columbia-HTC?

Great group of girls and all the support we need to win races

  • What is your greatest childhood memory on 2 wheels?

Winning my first National Title.

  • How did you get into cycling?

My big brothers did it so I ‘had' to do it too!

  • What has been your biggest challenge as a pro cyclist?

Being away from home is the hardest part.

  • Share a memorable pro career moment:

02 in Idaho, the whole team put the field in gutter and dropped everybody and our 2 GC riders went to take the yellow jersey. Us other ones just made time cut!
