Marco is a quiet man who is always happy. He is very focused and is very specific about training on and off the bike. He is mentally strong and he works hard on maintaining that. Everybody was delighted at his success is the Giro d'Italia in 2007 when he held the leaders Maglia Rosa for four days.

2008 was also a good year for Pinotti. He defended his Italian Time Trial Title and won the final time trial at the Giro d'Italia. He also won the overall classification at the Tour of Ireland and placed third in the Tour of Romandie.

When I am not riding, I am reading books.
  • What do you like about riding for Team Columbia-HTC?
The mission we have: winning races riding clean and developing a clean and fair sport.
  • What is your greatest childhood memory on 2 wheels?
Hinault and Lemond on Alpe d'Huez at Tdf 1985
  • How did you get into cycling?
In high school when I was 16 yrs old, a schoolmate invited me to a bike race. I really enjoyed it and the following year I started riding for the local cycling team
  • What has been your biggest challenge as a pro cyclist?
Finishing my first Tour de France in 1999, my first year as a professional cyclist. I was called only 5 days before the start, and only 3 riders from the team made it to Paris and I was one of them.
  • Share a memorable pro career moment:
The parade on Champs Elisee at the end of the Tour de France in 1999.
  • What is your most embarrassing moment?
When someone recognizes you and says hi, but you don't remember who they are or when you met them.
