DOUBLE PODIUM SWEEP IN GERMAN TIME TRIAL NATIONALS FOR HTC-HIGHROAD
June 24, 2011
HTC-Highroad scored a notable double triumph today in the German National Time Trial Championships when they scooped all three medals on offer in both the men's and the women's categories.
Early this afternoon, Judith Arndt, Charlotte Becker and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg captured gold, silver and bronze respectively for HTC-Highroad. Shortly thereafter, Bert Grabsch, Tony Martin and Patrick Gretsch followed in their wheeltracks to take the top three spots for the men.
For Arndt, today's win was her second straight German time trial victory out of six titles in her career, whilst Grabsch's victory was his fourth personally in the same category and also HTC-Highroad's fourth successive win in the event.
Today's impressive run of results in the National Time Trial Championships for HTC-Highroad was completed by Kanstantsin Sivtsov, who won the Bylorussian National Championships.
"Getting six riders on the podium today as well as Kanstantsin's gold medal shows just how big an effort we put into our time trialling, equipment and backup. It also shows how we make sure that everybody has a chance," said HTC-Highroad manager Rolf Aldag. "We try to do things democratically in our team, to help every rider get the most out of themselves."
"You can never plan for something as exceptional as this but I'm really proud it happened, and of everybody who helped it happen."
For Grabsch and Sivtsov, today's victories were their first of the 2011 season, meaning thirteen riders from HTC-Highroad men's team now have won at least one race this season.
