Anderson wins in Snelling
February 24, 2008
Kim Anderson pulled off a late solo attack in the Snelling Road Race in California taking the win from her Hig Road teammate Anke Wichmann. The 110km race consisted of laps loops around Snelling over undulating terrain and in strong winds. "The winds played a big part in the race," said Team Director Petra Rossner. After 40km of racing Anderson and Wichmann escaped in a five person break. Due to a later attack within the break, two riders were dropped leaving the break with only three riders. With less than a lap to go, Anderson made her move and was able to hold off the chase to take the win. Wichmann won the uphill sprint to take second place, giving High Road the first two spots on the podium. "We worked well together as a team," said Anderson after the race. "It's nice to pull off a win early in the season."
