Columbia-Highroad's Kim Kirchen from Luxembourg was successfully operated on today at the Advanced Ambulatory Surgery Center in Redlands, California.

After suffering a fractured clavicle and scapula due to a crash in Wednesday's stage of the Amgen Tour of California, Kirchen underwent an operation on his right Clavicle. The surgery was conducted by Dr. John Steinmann from Arrowhead Orthopaedics with the assistance of Dr. Helge Reipenhof.

"The operation was very successful," said Dr. Steinmann "and I expect very good recovery from Kim in the next six to eight weeks."

Kirchen will fly home to Luxembourg early next week.
