Keller takes her first ever yellow jersey
August 13, 2008
Two days after her team-mate Ina-Yoko Teutenberg held the yellow jersey in Route de France, the young German Champion Luise Keller attacked her way to victory in Les Settons taking the stage win and bringing the yellow jersey back into the team.
Keller used the second major climb of the day to make her move. Bridging to two breakaway riders and attacking again with 4km remaining in the race. she soloed to victory making 45 second on second place. She now leads the General Classification by 51" going into stage 4, with three days remaining in the tour.
"It's exciting to win my first yellow jersey," said Keller. "The support and the trust from the team helped me get this today."
Director Ronny Lauke is happy with the way the race has gone so far. "The way the girls managed to earn back the yellow jersey was great," he said. "It's also really good to see Luise developing into such a well rounded rider."
