Team Columbia's Linus Gerdemann and Thomas Lovkvist soared to the top two places in  both stage one and the provisional overall of the Tour of Germany  on Sunday.

Featuring one second category and two first category climbs, the 178 kilometre stage between Kitzbuhel and Hochfugen was rated the toughest of the Tour of Germany.

Gerdemann crossed the line 16 seconds ahead of team-mate Lovkvist after attacking at the foot of the final 13 kilometre climb to Hochfugen in Austria.

Columbia's Mark Cavendish fought back from a bad crash in the Tour of Ireland to take his third straight win  - and retain the overall lead.

The 23-year-old sprinter fell heavily when he skidded into a group of riders already on the ground from a previous crash on a downhill section of the 201 kilometre stage from Ballinrobe to Galway.

Thursday's stage two of the Tour of Ireland saw Mark Cavendish score his second straight win and maintain his overall lead  with a classy bunch sprint victory in the town of Loughrea.

The 23-year-old successfully avoided a last-kilometre crash to outpace Dutchman Michael Van Staeyen and Max Richeze of Argentina at the head of a 70-strong main bunch.

Team Columbia’s Mark Cavendish made his return to road racing at the
Tour of Ireland on Wednesday and immediately won again and also pulled on the race leader’s yellow jersey.

Cavendish has not raced since retiring from the Tour de France but showed he has not lost his natural high speed sprint. He beat New Zealand’s Julian Dean and Alexander Kristoff of Norway in a bunch sprint after 192km of racing across the spectacular Irish countryside.

Team Columbia continued to dominate the results at the Eneco Tour ProTour race in Belgium on Tuesday, with Edvald Boasson Hagen using his power and speed to win and Andre Greipel retaining the overall race lead.

A nine-rider breakaway looked set to fight out the finish but Team Columbia did a lot of work to chase the riders and then Boasson Hagen finished things off perfectly by jumping past late attacker Jimmy Engoulvent within sight of the finish line.

Team Columbia has secured victory in the individual and team standings in the women’s World Cup competition with one race still to ride after yet another impressive performance in the GP Plouay in France.

Germany’s Judith Arndt finished fourth in the GP Plouay won by Fabiana Luperini ahead of Team Columbia’s Luise Keller on Sunday but it meant she gained enough points to secure overall victory in the individual standings of the World Cup.

Team Columbia continued its long run of success in 2008, with Germany's Andre Greipel winning stage two of the Eneco Tour on Friday.

Greipel beat Argentina's Juan Jose Haedo (CSC-Saxo Bank) and compatriot Robert Forster(Gerolsteiner) in a rain-soaked sprint finish in Nieuwegein, in the north of the Netherlands. Kenny Van Hummel (Skil-Shimano) was fourth and stage one winner Tom Boonen was fifth.

Team Columbia’s Linus Gerdemann won the Coppa Agostoni race today in Italy with an aggressive performance.

Gerdemann is still building up his form after breaking his femur and damaging knee ligaments in a crash at the Tirreno-Adriatico race in March, but beat Italy’s Leonardo Bertagnolli (Liquigas) and Austrian national champion Christian Pfannberger (Barloworld) to take the prestigious Italian summer one-day race.

The three broke away 12kms from the end of the hilly race held north of Milan. A group of chasers were only a few seconds behind but were unable to catch them and Linus won the sprint to the line.

24 year old Luise Keller of Team Columbia successfully defended the leaders jersey at Route de France on Sunday to achieve her first career tour victory.

After taking the lead on stage 3 with an impressive solo attack during the hilly stage to Les Settons, Keller extended her lead with a dominating performance in the time trial on Saturday. The young German Champion and her team controlled the final stage to win the overall race by over two minutes.

Columbia's Bradley Wiggins fulfilled all expectations by netting the gold medal in the Beijing Olympic Games individual pursuit on Saturday.

24 hours after setting a new Olympic record during the qualifying round, Wiggins saw off New Zeland’s Hayden Roulston to take his first Olympic gold of 2008  for his country. Another British rider, Steven Burke, took bronze.

Team Columbia took it's fourth stage win at Route de France on Friday with Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and  Kim Anderson placing first and second in stage five.

With  Luise Keller currently in the overall race lead, the team spent the day covering attacks to protect the jersey. With 35km remaining in the 130km race, Anderson and Teutenberg found themselves in a nine person break.

Team Columbia’s Linus Gerdemann took overall victory in the four-day Tour de L’Ain stage race on Wednesday, proving that he is back to his best after breaking his femur and damaging knee ligaments in March.

Gerdemann had to miss the most of the first part of the season and the Tour de France but always worked hard in the gym and with the physiotherapists to make a rapid recovery from serious injury. His win in France repays him and Team Columbia for their hard work and patience.

Two days after her team-mate Ina-Yoko Teutenberg held the yellow jersey in Route de France, the young German Champion Luise Keller attacked her way to victory in Les Settons taking the stage win and bringing the yellow jersey back into the team.

Keller used the second major climb of the day to make her move. Bridging to two breakaway riders and attacking again with 4km remaining in the race. she soloed to victory making 45 second on second place. She now leads the General Classification by 51" going into stage 4, with three days remaining in the tour.

Columbia’s Ina-Yoko Teutenberg won the opening prologue of La Route de France Sunday clocking the fastest time in the 3.2km prologue in the town of Dijon.

Teutensberg’s time of 4min 33 seconds now puts her in the lead by one second over Lotto Belisol rider Grace Verbeke and three seconds to Edwige Pitel (Team Pro Féminin Les Carroz).
