Morris Possoni rode his way into the Sprint Jersey in stage one of the Tour of Romandie today taking sprint points at the two intermediate sprints of the 182km race.
Possoni broke away with two other riders after only 10km of racing and opened up a siginificant gap on the peloton. The trio stayed away for the majority of the race with Possoni winning the two intermediate sprints and placing second in the three mountain sprints. Possoni and one of his breakaway partners, Patxi Vila Errandonea (Lampre), stayed away until 15km to go in the race until they were finally caught.
Possoni goes into the second stage leading the Sprint Classification and sitting in second place in the Mountains Classification.
