Toulouse, France - Mark Cavendish, a 23-year-old rider from the Isle of Man, sprinted to his second stage victory in the Tour de France on Saturday, continuing a remarkable run of success by Team Columbia, one of the two United States-registered teams in the Tour.
Kim Kirchen, a Team Columbia rider from Luxembourg, maintained his hold on the race leader's yellow jersey for a third day, finishing the 107-mile course in the same time as Cavendish, 4 hours 2 minutes 54 seconds, for an average speed of 26.4 miles per hour. Kirchen also tied for the green points jersey with Oscar Freire of Rabobank, althought Freire was awarded the jerseu based on his finishes in intermediate sprints.
