Belgian cyclist Maxime Monfort, 26, is an up-and-coming stage-race rider. After spending the past three seasons with the Cofidis team, where he finished in the top 10 in prestigious week-long stage races like the Dauphine-Libere and the Tour of Germany, Monfort leads Team Colombia as the top overall rider in the this year's Paris-Nice, a race he has already done three times.
Like every year at Paris-Nice, we have a real hard stage with lots of wind that breaks the peloton up into echelons. Today, stage three, was one of those days, with the Rabobank team going to the front and putting the hammer down. This is my fourth Paris-Nice so I'm not surprised to see the race break up like it did today.
