Briton comes from nowhere for victory in Paris but misses out on green jersey
Mark Cavendish will surely claim the green jersey one day, but even if he does not, few will doubt that when the force is with him, he is the fastest sprinter the Tour de France has seen in modern times. Possibly ever.
Cavendish's win on the Champs-Elysees was his 15th Tour de France stage triumph since the beginning of July 2008, an orgy of winning that leaves opponents grinding their teethin dispair.
Me is Merckx-like in his need for victory, leaving mere crumbs for those who time at the top table with him.|
