Andre Greipel has vowed to vigorously protect the Santos Tour Down Under ochre leader's jersey after conquering stage one in typical fashio, winning a bunch sprint at the Tanunda finish line yesterday. It was Greipel's sixth ProTour TDU stage win since 2008.
That Greipel was switched on for victory was obsiou fromthe off when the strong German managed to avoid a nervous peloton just 300m from the Clare start line.
